Sasha Bailey Criminal Defence Barrister

Sasha Bailey

Called: 2002

Sasha is a highly experienced barrister specialising in both general crime and fraud & financial crime.  With a diverse practice spanning a wide range of criminal matters, she regularly acts as both leading and led counsel in complex cases, representing clients in some of the most serious and challenging legal proceedings.

Sasha’s expertise in general crime covers a broad spectrum of offences, including murder, manslaughter, violent crimes, rape, sexual assault, and drug offences, with particular experience in handling multi-handed county-line cases.  She is often instructed to represent vulnerable defendants, especially those suffering from severe mental health issues and learning difficulties, and has significant experience dealing with both child witnesses and adults with acute vulnerabilities.

Her commitment to vulnerable witnesses extends to her role in the initial rollout of the Vulnerable Witness Training, where she has contributed to seminars on Section 28 of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999. This has made her a trusted advocate in cases where sensitivity and expertise in dealing with vulnerable individuals are paramount.

In addition to her general crime work, Sasha is a recognised expert in fraud and financial crime. She has handled a wide array of high-profile fraud cases, including matters involving bribery, money laundering, and corruption.  She has represented individuals, corporates, and government agencies, including the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), offering her extensive knowledge in complex financial matters.  Sasha also has significant experience dealing with Legal Privilege issues.

Sasha regularly appears in Courts Martial both in the UK and abroad. Her experience includes acting as junior counsel in a prominent case involving the death of a soldier during a Live Tactical Training exercise at Castle Martin.  Her work in this area reflects her ability to navigate the unique legal challenges associated with military law.
